Phase Transformations in Ni-Al-Cr System.
This WWW page illustrates that it is indeed possible to predict the reactions
that occur during weld solidification. Following plots pertains to
solidification of Ni-0.20Al-0.05Cr (mole fractions) alloy at two different
cooling rates (10 and 100 K/s). First the variations in phase volume
% are shown for two different cooling rates. Then, the typical composition
profiles for aluminum and cromium (mole fractions) are shown. The calculations
assumes no diffusion in gamma prime phase. The calculations are done with
Dictra software.
Phase fractions at different cooling rates.
Variation of phase percentage for a weld cooling rate of 10 K/s and 100
K/s
Composition Profiles at different cooling rates:
Cooling rate 10 deg c per sec (composition profiles at 0,6,10,20,30,40
seconds)
Cooling rate 100 deg C / s (composition profiles at 0,0.6,1,2,3,4 seconds)
