Solid State Transformations
This part of the research pertains to understanding
and modeling the microstructure development in low-alloy steel, stainless
steel, aluminum alloy and Ni-base superalloy welds. Thermodynamic
and Kinetics considerations are dealt to understand complex interplay between
the phase stability and dynamic weld cooling conditions. Moreover, crucial
information regarding transformation interfaces are obtained using transmission
electron microscopy, atom-probe-field-ion microscopy and thermo-mechanical
simulators.
